How to decide the fabric for your lingerie – Part 1

Lingerie is the perfect expression of women’s femininity. True that! But how to know if the lingerie that you are choosing is the right one for you. There was a time when lingerie was made from natural woven fabrics such as linen, silk, and cotton. But with innovation, the present day lingerie comes in numerous different fabric which has benefits of it’s on.

While choosing our Bras, we usually look for support and lift. Sure these are important! But in this process, we somehow ignore the importance of fabric that the bra is made of.

  1. Cotton Bra: Cotton is the most common fabric used in lingerie and provides all the benefits one would expect.

Advantages:

  • It’s soft against the skin.
  • It is very breathable and a good choice for everyday, particularly if you live in or are travelling to a hot climate.
  • It requires minimal care and can be easily thrown in the machine with rest of your laundry.

Disadvantage:

  • It doesn’t always offer adequate support. But most of the brands use a blend of natural and synthetic fibers to maintain breathability and comfort while providing greater support.

So, if you ask us, cotton has much more positives than negatives! It’s a MUST have in a women’s wardrobe.

Our Pick: Daisy Dee Cotton Bra.

  1. Silk Bra: Another natural fabric that’s common in lingerie is Silk.

Advantages:

  • Comfortable
  • Lightweight
  • Feels great against the skin and wicks moisture from the skin.

Disadvantage:

  • Needs lots of care to last for longer.

Silk bras are an excellent choice for those with sensitive skin as silk is less likely to provoke an allergic reaction than many other fibers and the naturally occurring amino acids can actually soothe the skin.

Keep looking at this space to know more about other fabrics. Stay gorgeous!
